Home Up

Becky was born January 5th, 1996.

She was in day care beginning at six weeks old and we were able to pick some pretty good places.  First, Becky spent days with Susan Dexter who was doing day care for Becky, Andrew Hill who was born two days after Becky, and with a few other kids. Becky was with Susan's home day care for two years.

After a half year with another home day care, Becky went to Rogy's Learning Center and was there till she started Kindergarten at Peoria Academy. By the spring before Kindergarten, Becky was able to read first reader books and could count to a hundred by ones, twos, fives and tens and do some simple addition.  Though Becky was outstanding, most of her peers could do these things, too.

Starting in 2001, Becky attended Kindergarten at Peoria Academy, a private, secular school. Her first teacher Mrs. Gabriel, was "better than perfect" in Becky's estimation.  No discussion of how nothing can be better than perfect could dissuade Becky from saying Mrs. Gabriel is better than even a perfect kindergarten teacher.

Becky has always liked school and has often been disappointed when there was a school holiday.  There is no doubt it's a good school. Well before the end of Kindergarten, Becky had learned, all the things on the minimums list for successful completion of first grade, plus a lot more.

First grade with Mrs. Heinemann was also wonderful for Rebecca.  Second grade was with Mrs. Kilkenny.  Third grade was with Mrs. ? and now fourth grade is with Mr. Schiefling.  All earlier teachers got the "better than perfect" rating.  Mr. Schiefling is also very wellliked but we'll have to wait to see if he maxes out his rating.

Somewhere along the way, Becky became Rebecca as she started introducing herself that way.

(Warning:  incoming parental bragging) As a reflection of the school's quality, at the beginning of 4th grade, Rebecca scored in the 94th percentile on standard testing and eight of the 22 in her class scored higher.  Good schools attract good students so this may just reflect the quality of students.  But the quality of the school is keeping up with these quality students.

She is enjoying Peoria Academy for fourth grade.

As side classes, Rebecca has enjoyed Tae Kwon Do (now in third year), drama, piano, gymnastics, chess, and in previous years advanced math, typing, Mad Science, and (always) Girl Scouts.
